Application process

If you would like to apply to the Summer School, please ensure that you have first read and understood our Terms and Conditions.

How to apply:

  1. Complete and submit online application form.
  2. Upload any supporting documentation required to support your application via our secure Dropbox. Please make sure that the documents are clearly labelled with your name.
  3. An email will be sent to confirm the receipt of your application and you will be prompted to provide any information/evidence which remains outstanding at this time. 
  4. If your application meets our requirements, you will be issued with a conditional offer of a place upon the course. 
  5. In order to accept this offer, you will be required to provide a deposit payment* of £250 (for credit courses) or £125 (for non-credit courses), inclusive of a non-refundable £50 application fee. The deposit payment will count towards your Summer School package payment. Ways of making payment are detailed here.
  6. During Spring 2017 you will be issued with an unconditional offer to study at the Summer School, and, shortly after, you will be invoiced for the balance of your fees. We ask that you pay this invoice as soon as possible. Full payment must be received 30 days prior to your booking start date.

If there is not a suitable place for you at the Summer School, you will be notified as soon as possible.

The University of Edinburgh Summer School guarantees accommodation to all students who book their place by the March 31 2017. After this date accommodation might not be available and you may have to find accommodation for yourself. 

 

Further information and supporting document submission

It may be considered necessary for you to provide further information or documents in support of your application. If this is the case, someone from the Summer School Office will be in contact with you (via the email address provided on your application form) when they are reviewing your application. Your application will not be processed until all the relevant sections have been completed and your application has been submitted. 

If you have been asked to submit any documents, please ensure that these are scanned and sent to the email address provided. High quality photographs of documents will be accepted. It is also important to note that any documents which are not in English must be translated by an official translator prior to submission.

You may be asked to provide a selection of the following documents

Credit-bearing courses

  • One academic reference
  • Transcripts for the most relevant qualification you are either currently studying or have already completed
  • Degree transcripts (interim** transcripts)
  • A scanned copy of your passport photo page
  • A scanned copy of any current/previous UK visas
  • Evidence of an internationally recognised English language qualification (if appropriate).
  • A hand-signed data protection form (if the application is being made by a third party)***
  • If your application is successful, please also be aware that you will be asked to provide a passport-style photograph of your head and shoulders, suitable for use on your student card

Non-credit-bearing courses

  • A scanned copy of your passport photo page
  • A scanned copy of any current/previous UK visas
  • Evidence of an internationally recognised English language qualification (if appropriate).
  • A hand-signed data protection form (if the application is being made by a third party).**
  • If your application is successful, please also be aware that you will be asked to provide a passport-style photograph of your head and shoulders, suitable for use on your student card.

 

*Please note that if your Summer School booking will commence fewer than 30 days from this point then full payment will be required upfront.
 
** A transcript of your degree progress and achievement to date

*** It is imperative we receive a Data Protection form at the point of application for all applicants. If we do not receive this form at the point of application we will be unable to share information on applicants or pay commission on successful students.
